04 November 2004
The Organising Committee for the XX Olympic Winter Games – Turin 2006 (TOROC) announced the start, today, 4 November 2004, of ticket sales for the Winter Games in 2006. Over half of the tickets will cost between EUR 20 and EUR 50 and there will be books of tickets available, in addition to individual event tickets, which will allow fans to follow their favourite team or sport.
A million tickets on sale
There will be a million tickets on sale for the Games in 2006 and fans can choose to buy either individual tickets or books of tickets with particular themes. There are four different types of books. The “Carnet Sport” will allow spectators to follow all the competitions of a discipline up to the gold medal stage, while the “Carnet Montagna” and “Carnet Città” will allow fans to watch two different sports events in the mountains or in Turin respectively. Finally, the “Carnet Esperienza Olimpica” will permit winter sports fans to see four events on three consecutive days and also receive an invitation to an evening at the “Piazza delle Medaglie” where the medal ceremonies will be held.
For Italians, tickets are available from the TOROC website www.torino2006.org/tickets, from the 3,000 branches of the Sanpaolo Group, from the 400 points-of-sale of the TicketOne network and from the Turin 2006 call centre (848 88 2006 - open from 10 a.m. till 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday and from midday till 4 p.m. on Saturdays). For fans from countries in the European Economic Area, tickets can be purchased from the TOROC website, the call centre (+39 039 838 250) and the sales organisations of the National Olympic Committees. In all other countries, tickets can be bought through the National Olympic Committee.
Purchase your tickets early
The first phase of ticket sales will end on 15 December 2004. During this first phase, any events where demand exceeds supply will be allocated on a random selection basis in order to guarantee maximum equity and transparency. Official notification of the number of successfully purchased tickets will be sent to buyers by the end of the month of January 2005. Phase two of sales will begin on 10 February 2005, with tickets being bought in real time. However, it is important to apply for your tickets early because while during phase one the full selection of events will be available, this may not be the case during phase two.
Welcome the world
TOROC President Valentino Castellani commented, “With the opening of the Ticketing Offices, the XX Olympic Winter Games come to life. Italy and Turin in particular are preparing to welcome sports lovers from all over the world.”
