Wang Wei was appointed Vice President and Secretary General of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in March 2003. A native of Tianjin, Wang has been a member of the CPC since 1971. Prior to his present appointment, Wang served as Associate Secretary General of the Beijing Municipal Government and Associate Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. Wang holds a master degree from the State University of New Jersey and is currently an associate professor.
