The IOC Coordination Commission for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games is to hold the 3rd meeting in Beijing from October 27 to 29, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced at a press conference held in Beijing on October 27. The IOC will also hold a Debriefing of the Athens Olympic Game in Beijing from October 31 to November 3, IOC officials said.
IOC Director of Communications Giselle Davies and Olympic Games Executive Director Gilbert Felli attended the press conference.
Davies said a total of about 160 representatives from the IOC, the Athens 2004 Organizing Committee (ATHOC), the Turin Organizing Committee for the XX Olympic Winter Games (TOROC), the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) and the candidate cities for the 2012 Olympiad will be present at both meetings. IOC President Jacques Rogge will attend the opening ceremony and several sessions of the Athens 2004 debriefing meeting and will hold a press conference in Beijing on November 1.
“The Coordination Commission has come here to Beijing to see the state of preparations and to work with BOCOG towards the delivery of successful Games," said Davies. "Plenary meetings will see us all together, to discuss general issues, while working groups will discuss more specific issues."
The specific topics to be discussed at the meeting include venue construction, marketing, ticketing, media, competitions, transportation, technology, catering service, image and promotion concerning the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
After the IOC Coordination Commission meeting, the IOC and BOCOG will hold a joint press conference in Beijing.
